This is the End: Movie Review

This is the End

Hello Spice Girls and Guys!  I am doing something different today.  I am doing more of an opinion/review…for a movie.  It’s rare that I do this but with summer comes lots of great films.

I absolutely love comedies. Especially really stupid ones like Superbad or 21 Jump Street.  I knew I had to see this movie once I found out Emma Watson was in it.  I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and Emma Watson is one of my role models.  I loved seeing her in a quite different role even if she wasn’t in the whole film.

If you have not seen this movie, I am warning you now, this is full of spoilers.

SPOILER ALERT.

Oh my god.  There is just so much I can say.  Usually, I don’t obsess much over movies, unless it’s the Harry Potter series but when a movie is this entertaining, I just have to.  What struck me about this movie is that they are not taking on any fake name or storyline.  They are playing themselves.  They are acting as if it is an average day and party at James Franco’s house.  I loved seeing my favorite celebrities and it was enough to get anyone excited.

There are a lot of surprises such as Channing Tatum’s appearance and the ending with the BACKSTREET BOYS. WHAT.  You can bet I was dancing and singing along in my seat while silently squealing to myself.  I am still a big fan of both BSB and Nsync.  I will never get that 90s vibe out of me.

I must admit though.  It is not for the squeamish.  It was not short on blood, gore, deaths, and penises.  Demon ones.  Not pretty.  I thought the story line was great and I’m a bit sad that there was no room for a sequel.  They finished it up really well.  I just wish I knew what happened to Emma Watson in the end.  She probably died.  :/

I wasn’t expecting it to be this good.  I thought it would be entertaining but it brought upon me a whole array of emotions.  I was frightened, laughing, gasping, and clutching onto my friends arm throughout the movie.  There is nothing more that I love than hearing other people in the theater laugh as well.  You know it’s pretty damn funny if everyone else is laughing.

This movie was better than Hangover 3, which is one film I thought was going to be REALLY funny but only turned out to be disappointing.  I didn’t really expect to be laughing at nearly every scene.  My mother is Spanish, so I tend to laugh at really perverted things.  I don’t know why, the more grotesque or stupid, the more I laugh.  I just laugh REALLY easily.  My name does mean happiness after all!

If you were not planning on seeing this film,  I am telling you now to go get your butt over there!  I give this film a 9.5/10. Yes. It was great.  I  will even purchase this on DVD when it comes out!

Did you see this movie? What did you think of it? Do you like comedies? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Did you see This is the End? What did you think of it?

Ipsy Glam Bag: June 2013

image(110)

It’s Ipsy time Spice Girls and Guys! Let’s see what I got this month!
image(111)I was hoping I would get some good items and I have to say, I liked most of the items in my bag. I especially loved the blush. I don’t regularly buy myself some so this was a bonus for me.

image(112)

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter: I was happy to get this. I put it under my eyebrow arch and above when I contour my face. It glides on and is very useful.  What I find troublesome about this item is the size of it.  It’s rare to find a sharpener that will fit such a size, even if the do sell the bigger ones, they usually don’t fit.  Once I get this to the bottom, I won’t be able to sharpen it.  I won’t be getting much uses out of this, even if I wanted to.

2013-06-20NYX Blush in Desert Rose: I was really happy to see this blush in my bag.  The color is a beautiful rose pink and it goes great with my skin tone.  They really did manage to match the color to my skin tone, I’ve heard a lot of people complaining that many of their items do not go with their skin tone.  I have not had that problem yet. It’s very pigmented and smoothed on easily.  I will be sure to get use out of this.  I’ve never used NYX so this sample allowed me to find an item that I love.

2013-06-202

Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in Iron: I have an obsession with eyeliners, even more than should be normal.  When I saw this in my bag I nearly did a back flip.  I’ve tried gel eyeliner and it’s been disaster.  I love how the brush is part of the packaging. It’s convenient and it keeps it clean and right where it should be.  I swatched it on my hand so you can see how the color looks like.  I took a shower and there was still some liner on my hand.  It did not budge at all! That’s great if you really want long-lasting eyeliner.  The brush is easy to use.  I hope to practice a little more with this gem.

2013-06-204J Cat Sparkling Cream Palette Body Glitter in Volta: The moment I saw the palette, I immediately thought it was eyeshadow but upon further investigation, I found out it was body glitter. What..? I know..Body glitter. I didn’t like it because it’s too glittery for my tastes and who wears body glitter? I’m 20..way too old to be painting my body with shimmery shadows. I might pass this over to my younger cousins. If not, I will probably mix it with glue to decorate my cap with when I graduate university.  Not one of my favorites. I do like the colors though.

2013-06-205Starlook lipliner in Bare: Another item that I wasn’t crazy about.  I rarely wear lipstick and if I do, it would be nothing in this color.  I passed this over to my mother who was excited.  She has tons of lipsticks in a hue similar to this so I know she will get get use out of this.  I did like how easily it was to apply with virtually no tugging so I know it will be something she is going to use it like crazy!

Overall, I did like the glam bag.  I wasn’t too crazy with the bag itself, it’s a bit too wild for my taste but I could probably use it to store some old jewelry.  I liked 3/5 of the items so I was pretty happy! I can’t wait to see what next month has in store! Hopefully the bag has a nautical theme!

What did you think of this Ipsy bag? I would love to hear what you got! I know a lot of people were complaining about the shimmer palette, but the whole point is to try something new.  You may not have liked what you got but you could always trade or re purpose it! I was even planning to take the lip liner and use it as an eyeliner! There are always ways to use things, so I don’t really like to complain about it.  They put a lot of thought into making these bags and it’s better to think out of the box for other ways to use your items!

Birchbox: June 2013

2013-06-13It’s that time of the month again! No..not that one! BirchBox time! This was the box that would break it or make it.

image(93)Here are the contents of the box when I opened them.  BirchBox revamped their logo and I wasn’t feeling it but I soon came to like it!  I absolutely love the inside of the box though! I am a sucker for chevron, so I will try to reuse and recycle the box.

image(95)At the bottom of the box there were some cute post cards! I absolutely adore Europe so I was really happy with this little treat. I will probably frame them or just put them in my bookcase. My favorite one is of London <3.

image(96)

image(97)Here are all the samples I received this month.  I liked how we got 6 instead of 5, but the only bad thing is most of them are pretty small and 3 are from the same brand, I want more variety but I decided to give them all a try.  A great thing is that on the info card they have added directions on how to use your product! Yay!

image(98)suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser | Full-Size, $32.95: When I unscrewed the top and sniffed it, I fell in love. I love anything lemony so  I was excited to try this product.  I took the opportunity to use it when I was in the shower. I have combination skin but it is primarily dry.  It foamed nicely and I didn’t need that much product, it made my skin dry, to the point that I FELT that I had no moisture in my face.  I tried it once again today and it left it feeling soft and clean, it also left a wonderful lemon scent. I would recommend using moisturizer on your face after exfoliating.

2013-06-131LAQA & Co. Lil’ Lip Duo | Full Size, 2 for $16: I was happy to get this item in my box.  I’ve always wanted to wear lipstick but I find my lips chap very easily and I can’t even wear it or it looks bad.  I have a color similar to this that is Lancome’s Rouge in Love.
I haven’t used it on my lips but I swiped it once on my hand and it was very pigmented and glided on smoothly, this makes application a lot easier and less messy! I will be using this for sure, I’m glad that I got this color as it goes great with my skin.  It’s a fuschia/ hot pink color.

image(103)

2013-06-132Birchbox + Color Club Wanderlust Collection | Full-size, $8: Yay! Another nail polish, I’ve been getting a lot and it’s been amazing! At first I was kind of taken aback by how bright this nail polish was but once I had it on it wasn’t so bad.  I also loved that I got the color that was inspired by London (obsessed) but I found it kind of ironic.  It’s always raining in London…so shouldn’t it have been a more subdued hue of green? It is also a lot more longer lasting. Needless to say this one is a keeper but it’s a steep price for nail polish when I can get OPI for less thanks to my cosmetologist mother.

image(104)Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo | Full-size, $27.50: I was surprised to find this bottle of shampoo inside my box.  It’s a pretty good size for a sample. It has a slight scent of baby powder, it’s a strange scent, it’s not revolting but it’s hard to put a finger on it.  I tried it out and it made my hair smell light and it left it clean and soft, it also helped lessen the frizz.  I have dry/ frizzy hair so this was perfect! I swear, I think Birchbox knows me.

image(105)Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner | Full-size, $27.50: THIS is what I was expecting. A packet. I also used this after I used the shampoo and it really did help smooth and moisturize my dry tresses.  I still have some left over for maybe 2 more uses.  I like trying out new brands but I don’t think I would spend this much money on the product as I could find some other ones for cheaper.

image(106)Davines Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion | Full-Size, $40: Another packet.  The full-size product is pretty steep so I am going to wait until I decide to blow dry my hair and use this oil.  I have plenty of oils that get the job done so I don’t think I will be buying this full-size product either.  I do want to try it and see how it works out though!

While I liked this month, it didn’t spark much of an excitement in me.  This was the month that was going to make me decide if I was going to keep Birchbox or cancel…I’ve decided to cancel.  While I love the guessing that Birchbox leaves me with..I don’t think that the products were worth it.  I’ve decided to keep my Ipsy as it gives me FULL SIZE products.  I loved Birchbox’s customer service and some of the products but I can’t afford to keep spending $10 for mediocre boxes.

What did you think of this months box? Tell me of your experiences with Birchbox and what you think of their products!

What’s In My Makeup Bag

Whats in my makeup bag

I feel like this blog is taking a turn into beauty, but it’s ok, beauty is a part of fashion and I do intend to try to do more outfits when I find a partner to take photos.  This is easier to do as I do not need anything special or someone else to take the photos. I love seeing what is in everyone else’s makeup bags or is part of their routine so I figured i would do one as well.  These are the items I use religiously, I may use some one day or omit them another. I have a lot more items but these are the ones I find myself reaching for time and time again.

image(69) Urban Decay: All Nighter
This makeup setting spray is both refreshing and effective.  I used this going to an Ed Sheeran concert in October. I sprayed it onto my face after I finished applying my makeup and spent 2 hours outside and then 3 1/2 sweating and dancing. When I took a picture of myself with my friend at the concert, I was surprised to see my face did not have one bead of sweat on it. It did not glisten with oil or have any makeup running down my face. It lasted for those 6 hours and more. It’s amazing. I will continue using it and I know this will be great for the hot summer months. Not only will it keep my makeup set, but it will offer some relief against the hot sun.

image(70)bareMinerals Original Foundation, Mineral Viel, & “Warmth”: I am a simple girl and I like simple makeup.  Sometimes, I just swipe the trio on and I am left fresh-faced and blemish free.  It gives me great coverage without looking heavy or looking like I am even wearing makeup.  It offers a great canvas to actually go wild with your makeup.

image(71)Origins: GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream: I have terrible, dreadful dark circles thanks to my workaholic nature and heredity.  I swipe some of this underneath my eyes in the morning to give me more of a wide awake look.  The key is the light reflecting shimmer.  It helps brighten your eyes and you could also swipe some on before you head to bed. It’s not going to make your circles disappear but it helps me look more alive and attentive when I am out or working.

image(73)Per-fekt Brow Perfection Gel & Tarte emphasEYES liner: I keep my brows tidy by threading but when a week or two pass, the unruly hairs return.  To keep the perfectly set and bold brows, I swipe on some of the brow perfection brow. It has a mascara brush so it’s easy to use and you could easily control how bold you want them.  The emphasEYES liner is also something I use when I want to brighten up my eyes.  The nude color glides on your lower waterline and makes your eyes look bigger and wide awake.  I also put some on the inner corner of my eyes to get the full effect.

image(74)Boscia B.B Cream: Yes, there is a C.C cream now but I am enjoying my time with this. I wear this every day without fail.  If I don’t feel like doing any makeup I dot this all over my face and put 2 dots on my dark circles and set it in with a circular motion.  It leaves my skin with a beautiful glow, less noticeable dark circles, and with nearly any imperfections.  The best part? The SPF.  It will be a life saver in the summer and might even try their B.B. Cream with bronzer.

image(75)Lancome Hypnose Doll mascara: You can never go wrong with a swipe of mascara. I already have naturally long eyelashes so I don’t really need a lot.  I do like putting mascara on to make sure it curls up and to give it more emphasis.  I like Lancome’s mascara because it doesn’t clump.  I’m nearing the end of this one and I will be sure to try some new ones but until then, I will continue using this one.

image(77)image(78)Sugarbomb by Benefit: I usually have trouble finding anything that matches my skintone–simply because I don’t really know what to classify my skin tone as and there is an overwhelming variety of choices.  I strode into my local Ulta and one of the employees helped me choose this.  This is my go to blush and one I use all the time. I love mixing all the colors or using them individually.  It has a sweet and delicate scent to it as well.  It isn’t shimmery at all and I find that it adds a warm glow to my face.

image(79)Clinique Even Better Concealer in Hazelnut: I swear, I think I need to just get some new skin underneath my eyes. They aren’t bad, ok yes, they are horrible.  I need all the product I can use underneath my poor eyes. I also have trouble picking out the perfect concealer so I had asked one of the women at Sephora. She used this and I liked how it looked.  I only see it make a huge difference when I use both B.B Cream AND concealer.  If I just use concealer, I feel like it doesn’t have enough coverage.

photo(38)Sugar by Fresh: I am utterly obsessed with Fresh.  They’re items smell AMAZING. I have a collection of these bad boys thanks to Sephora always gifting two minis around my birthday. I have this one and the tinted rose one.  They both offer the same lemony fresh scent and always leave my super dry lips feeling smooth and rejuvenated. I will most likely be buying a lot more from Fresh and a full size lip balm when I finish.

Ruby Wing Nail Polish Review

photo(26)I had received this pretty light pink/coral nail polish in my April Birchbox. I was ecstatic, as nail polish is one of my obsessions. When I got the chance I swiped it on. My first reaction was that maybe the brush was too small and that’s why my manicure came out less than perfect. It streaks horribly and no matter how many coats you put on (I put 3), the streakiness comes through.  The polish does do what it says; it changes color.  I stood at my window a little creep like and watched as the color changed in front of my eyes. I love it, it’s like you are wearing two different nail polishes.  I just wish it didn’t streak so bad and in less than a few hours, some of it had chipped off. I’m disappointed and I know for a fact I won’t be purchasing the full-size. Too bad.

May BirchBox Review!

May Birchbox

I took another study break today (can you really blame me!?) and rushed down to my mailbox. I was both delighted and grumpy to see my May BirchBox lying in a puddle of water. Luckily, the only thing that was wet was the outer box. As I opened the boxes like as if it was Christmas once again, I was silently praying that I would not get a fragrance. Lo and behold, I did.

image(59)

photo(31)

Joie Fragrance: I am not much of a perfume girl. I have an overly sensitive nose and most perfumes end up giving me terrible headaches. I was a bit afraid to try it but it wasn’t very overpowering. It has a sweet floral scent that is very feminine and just reminds one of spring and warm weather. I will use the whole sample but I do not see myself purchasing the full-size bottle as it is $98. A bit too-steep for a girl who rarely uses perfumes.

image(60)

Beauty Protector,  Protect & Detangle: My mother has a cosmetology certification so she can go to the professional stores and get me products that no one else can get, especially detanglers, for a low price. I was a bit skeptical as I’ve never heard of this brand. I took the top off and sniffed it. It smelled AMAZING. I immediately sprayed it onto my messy, tangled bed head. It smells sweet and does the job. It left my dry hair smooth, soft, and shiny. I think I might just buy the full-size once I run out of this sample. It will come in handy in the hot, humid months that lie ahead.

image(65)

Coola, Sunscreen for Face: I hate sunscreen. It smells gross, is often times pricey, and leaves my face and skin with a greasy film. Coola was different. I have combination skin of dry patches on the cheeks and a little bit of oil on the T-Zone. I, of course, took a sniff of this and was blown away. Gone are the nasty scents of sunscreen and in are the fresh scent of cucumber! I put a little on my face and it was absorbent, light, and refreshing. It moisturized my skin without being heavy and an hour later, it’s still not greasy. I will most definitely invest on a full-size for the summer months. I will alternate between this and my BB Cream when I feel a little adventurous. What’s even better? It’s organic!

image(62)

Sumita, Eyeliner: I’ve always been a huge eyeliner fan since high school (Thank you emo phase). I don’t wear it as much as I don’t want to bring all the attention to my dark circles but I find that it emphasized my “exotic” eyes, as my cousin tells me. When I saw that I got this sample, I nearly did a back flip. I wish I would have gotten a different color as I have lots of black eyeliner, but the more the merrier! I put a swatch below so you can see how it comes up. It’s not as pigmented as my drugstore ones but it does the job and I love the strange point! It isn’t easily removed, either. I still have it on my hand after a few hours of just trying to scrub it away with a napkin. It’s long-lasting that’s for sure!

image(64)image(63)

Tweezerman, Matchbox IttyBitty Files: I paint my nails to the point of breaking. I absolutely love my nails and usually think of them the best part of my body. I was surprised to see this little treat. I have 2 nail files and I rarely use them. I don’t like filing my nails as it makes me twitch a little but you have to do, what you have to do! I thought this was really cute and extremely portable! I can just throw it in my purse and have several to use before tossing them away. What’s great is that they are in a box so I don’t have to dig into my bag to find my nail file scratching away at my phone. I’m not too crazy about the dark green color but it’s tiny, cute, and portable so it’s mostly a pro!

image(61)

I was overall pleased with what I received in this month’s box. I was going to let this month be the month I decide if I wanted to keep or unsubscribe to BirchBox. I think I will be keeping it another month! I am loving what I am seeing and they are doing a great job in choosing the items they are letting us try out. It keeps with the month’s and are going to be of great use for the spring and summer. Keep it up, BirchBox!

Sephora Beauty Haul

Sephora Beauty Haul

I know, I know..I haven’t updated in a while but I’m nearing my end of the semester and this is my last week of classes before Finals so this will probably be my only post for the next two weeks. I’ve been wanting to write this but I had to put it on the back burner.

On the bright side, I am now a VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider) at Sephora, which means I spent $350 in a calender year. Yes, even I cringed a little and wondered out loud what I even bought!

In this haul, I bought several things, take a look:

photo(28)

Tokyomilk Dark Lip Elixirs #36 Salted Caramel, Deluxe Sample of Fresh Rose Face Mask, Per-fekt Brow Perfecting Gel in Expresso, Tarte EmphasEYES Inner Rim Brightener, and butter LONDON in Macbeth

TokyoMilk Dark Lip Elixir #36: I only bought this item as I needed to get to the free shipping total and the amount that would give me the VIB status.  I didn’t think I would obsess over it and force every one of my friends to smell it.  The description was enough to reel me in but the scent was ah-may-zing.  I purchased Salted Caramel.  If you’ve ever tried the Caramel Frappe’s from McDonald’s then it smells and I would think tastes exactly like it! It leaves my lips soft and gives off a wonderful aroma for the while that your olfactory senses allows it to.

image(49)

Purchase at Sephora, $7

Tarte EmphasEYES in NUDE: Everyone that knows me can see that I have terrible dark circles under my eyes thanks to a mixture of heredity and a bad habit of staying up too late. I wear concealer, foundation, and the works but I find myself looking exhausted and tired after a long night of cramming or procrastinating (I would like to a say a combination of both). Black liner is pretty and I love it but it does nothing for my dark circles, if anything, it showcases them so to combat the problem I purchased this liner. It’s surprisingly pigmented and you do not need to press hard to get the color to glide on. You glide some on your inner rim and the sides and you look much more awake. It is also great to give your eyebrows some definition and arch if you put some underneath. Love it! A little steep in the price, but from what I see it is well worth it!

$19

$19

image(51)

Here, I offered a small swatch. I didn’t need to press too hard to get it.

Per-Fekt Brow Perfection Gel in Expresso: I have my eyebrows threaded every two weeks if I have time, if not sometimes I let them get a little unruly, to my despise. To keep my just threaded or reasonable look I use my eyebrow brush to brush the hairs back neatly. I want to fake it as long as I can so that is why I purchase this. It will not only hold the hairs in place but it will let me give them a bolder look without having to reach for an eyebrow pencil. As a Middle Eastern girl, eyebrows give my face a whole different look.  It really does matter. The brush is just like a mascara brush and allows you to control just how much you want. It also comes in different shades.  Once again, the price is a little steep but I see a little going a long way so once again it is a great product to invest in!

$22

$22

image(54)

butter LONDON “Macbeth”: I’ve only heard good things about this brand. I’ve always been an Essie or OPI girl thanks to my mother’s great discounts but I wanted to give this brand a shot. Believe me, the $15 price tag nearly killed me as I clicked the purchase button but now while it still hurts, I adore the brand and the colors.  The colors are unlike anything I’ve ever seen and you don’t get that strong formaldehyde scent with it either. It goes on smoothly and uniformly. I was unable to take a picture so I will supply you with 2 I found on Polyvore. I hope to buy a few more as treats in the future. For $15, it’s a lot buttt..the color is so pretty!

Untitled #80

This was my Sephora Beauty Haul! I have not yet tried the Rose Mask Sample but once I do I will most definitely do a review on it! I’ve always got a few more post ideas lined up but I will get working on them once finals finally end!

April Birchbox Review

April Birchbox

This is my first month receiving Birchbox and once I got my email yesterday confirming that it had been shipped, I was as giddy as a little kid on Christmas.  I love receiving things in the mail, It feels like a gift..even though I paid for it.  I received my Birchbox so quickly that I honestly wasn’t expecting it.  I do live near New York so that could be why it was so swift, but it was still unexpected.

All the goodies!

2013-04-20

This shaving cream has an amazing blueberry scent!

2013-04-201

The items I’m most excited about are the nail polish (it changes color in the sun!), the eye cream as I have terrible dark circles and some lines, and the shaving cream (just in time for summer!). I am not too blown away by the tea as I don’t like hot tea but I will be sure to let my parents try it and as for the peppermint shampoo, I’ll give it a shot. You never know unless you try! I will try to update you all on how the products work once I use them, but for now, I wanted to unpack and show you all the goodies! We will see how it is and if Birchbox is an investment, but so far I am liking what I see.

I love the packaging…I might just keep the box with the pink Birchbox logo on it.  It’s sturdy and I am sure I can store something in it.  I love how quickly the box arrived, how the items are perfect for the spring months, and the unexpected items that came in it.  It’s like unwrapping a gift every month, you are unsure of what’s going to be inside.  This is one of the things I love about Birchbox as well as the fact that they are samples.  I adore samples.  It allows me to experience items I would have not necessarily known about if I had not been introduced.  I find that samples are the best way to find that perfect item for yourself, there is no other way.  You need to try it and if you find you are unable to part with it, you can go right ahead and buy the full-size product.  It’s really a win-win for the consumer and the company.  Birchbox is doing it right.  I am going to use these items over the course of the next few days and I will fill you all in and how they did!

Do you get Birchbox every month? What are your thoughts on it?

Beau Review: “Clean on Me” by Soap & Glory

photo(5)

If you’ve been looking for a great, new shower gel, you must try Soap & Glory’s “Clean on Me”. I purchased mine at Sephora for $16. I bought the 16.2 oz one, so it is about a dollar for each ounce. It is totally worth it.

A little goes a long way. I bought this back in January and you can see I nearly have all of it left. No, I am not dirty, I shower daily. My mother even uses it, so you can see that you do not need as much of the product to produce the luxurious lather you crave. The gel has a soft, gentle scent of florals and a hint of orange.

I have extremely dry skin and I have little bumps on my arms that I contribute to my sensitivity to fabrics and allergies. This gel smoothed and moisturized my skin while relieving some of the irritation. I use it every day and every time I shower. I was always a Dove girl but this product leaves a light scent once I get out of the shower and makes my skin silky smooth.

I cannot get enough of it and I will probably have it for up to the next 6 months or longer. It’s worth the price and if you are wanting to derail from your usual store-bought brand.

From what I’ve seen in this product, it makes me want to try out some other Soap & Glory products. I will try to see if I can buy a few and even do a Soap & Glory giveaway. Tell me what you think of that! I would love to hear more about their products so if you have used this or others, please comment below, whether it is positive or negative!

The Queen Speaks…The Intern Queen

The struggle. The struggle of balancing your social life, work life, school life..it can all get to be too much but yet I am still searching for an internship.
When I first found out about the Intern Queen, it was through my editor-in-chief of Her Campus Montclair, I was of course interested. I logged onto her website http://www.internqueen.com and then proceeded to search for internships. I applied for a few and got two responses back, hurrah!

I loved her story and the fact that she had 15 internships under her belt in four years at college! I had to purchase her book. I absolutely love it. I whole-heartedly recommend it. I, like Lauren, struggle to get any help from my advisor. My blood still boils when I think back to last semester. I was making my way into my advisors’ office as I had just landed my first internship at a start-up in New York City. I had been emailing her about the internship and credits when she told me to come into her office the following day. Upon arriving, she instructed me to sit and told me, “You can’t do this internship. It’s free labor, we can’t cover you if you fall and break your back, and you don’t have enough knowledge or experience for it.” Frankly, I was taken aback. Who was she to tell me I didn’t have enough ‘knowledge’ for it. Life is full of opportunities and I seized it. I wasn’t about to let it go. I clenched her teeth, told her thank you, and walked out to continue on with my internship. I don’t know why colleges and universities don’t back up their students, they can’t expect us to just leave it off until senior year.

This is why I decided I would pick up Lauren Berger’s book. I wanted more internships, I wanted to experience the field, and have an edge over my competitors in the fashion realm. She offers tips, advice, and first hand experience. The book is only $12.99 and that’s a bargain for all the things she has to tell us!

Lauren Berger, you truly are an inspiration, thank you for writing such a helpful and wonderful books!Image
